Emergency First Aid Course in Birmingham
One day. Three years of certification. £100 in total, with just £30 to book.
Our Emergency First Aid Course in Birmingham runs at The Shirley Club in Solihull and gives you the practical skills to act when someone collapses, chokes or bleeds seriously — at work, at home or on the street.
The First Few Minutes Belong to You
When someone stops breathing, an ambulance is already several minutes away. In that gap, the outcome depends almost entirely on whoever is standing closest.
Most people freeze, because they have never been shown what to do. That’s the whole point of this course. By the end of the day you will have knelt on the floor and done chest compressions, opened an airway, put someone in the recovery position and used a defibrillator, so the actions are already in your hands rather than something you have only read about.

What You’ll Learn
Assessing an emergency, approaching safely, checking for danger, and knowing exactly what to tell the emergency services when you call.
CPR and defibrillators, hands-on adult CPR practice and using an AED, including what to do while help is on its way.
The recovery position, keeping an unconscious casualty’s airway open until the ambulance arrives.
Choking, clearing an obstructed airway in conscious and unconscious casualties.
Serious bleeding and shock, controlling heavy bleeding, applying dressings, and spotting shock before it becomes critical.
Burns, seizures and minor injuries, first response to burns, keeping someone safe during a seizure, and treating cuts and grazes.
Who Books This Course
Employers and designated first aiders. Every business has a legal duty to provide adequate first aid cover based on the risks in its workplace. For most offices, shops, salons and small businesses across the West Midlands, that means having a trained first aider on site.
Individuals. Parents, carers, sports coaches and anyone who would rather know what to do than hope someone else does.
Security professionals. A valid first aid certificate is part of the SIA licensing requirements for Door Supervisors and Security Guards. Check which qualification your application needs, or call us and we’ll confirm before you book.
Your Certificate
Your certificate is valid for three years. It’s recognised by employers and meets the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance for workplace first aid provision.
The HSE also recommends a short annual refresher between full requalifications, because practical skills like CPR fade fast without practice. Put a note in your calendar when your certificate is issued — it’s easier than discovering it lapsed during an inspection.
Where You’ll Train
The Shirley Club, 135 Marshall Lake Road, Solihull B90 4RB, around seven miles from Birmingham city centre.
Shirley station reaches Birmingham Moor Street or Snow Hill in 15 to 20 minutes, the Stratford Road bus corridor runs frequent services into town, and the M42 at Junction 4 is minutes away with parking on site. Learners travel in easily from Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Redditch and across the West Midlands.
