Premises

Clean, safe, H&S compliant, fire exits, 3 stairs for PI training, secure storage, ~2x2m space per learner for practicals

Trainer Qualifications

– Level 3 AET- Relevant experience (2 years in last 5)- Physical Intervention & Conflict Management certifications (if applicable)- ACT Awareness annually

Insurance

– Employers’ Liability (£5M)- Public & Professional Indemnity- Must cover physical intervention training

Learner Entry

– Minimum 18 years old (for DS/CP)- Valid ID- Emergency First Aid certificate (for DS/SG)- English language at Level B2 or equivalent

Course Duration

– Door Supervisor: 6 days / 44+ hrs- Security Guard: 4 days / 30+ hrs- CCTV: 3 days / 22+ hrs

Trainer & Centre Personnel

All trainers, assessors, and IQAs must hold specific qualifications and recent industry experience. We can help you get qualified or recruit fully compliant trainers.

Trainer Requirements:

  • Level 3 Award in Education & Training
  • Counter-terrorism ACT Awareness certificate
  • Sector knowledge (2 years’ experience in the last 5 years)
  • Conflict Management & Physical Intervention (for DS courses)

Assessors & IQAs:

  • Assessor/IQA qualifications
  • Security industry background
  • Ongoing CPD and record-keeping

Examination & Invigilation Setup

Exam Requirements

Standards to Follow

Spacing & Layout

1.25m between learners, all facing forward, privacy screens if needed

Invigilators

Must be independent of training delivery; 1 invigilator per 30 learners max

Exam Security

Lockable storage for test papers, secure transport, records of key holders required

Video Recording (Practical Assessments)

All PI and practical assessments must be recorded and kept securely for 3 years

Policies

Conflict of interest, invigilation induction & register, exam incident reporting

Equipment, Facilities & First Aid

  • Physical Intervention Room:3 stairs, large open area, 2×2 m space per person
  • CCTV Room:Real or simulated control room with PTZ cameras
  • Safety Equipment:BS-approved First Aid kit, water, ice packs, telephone access
  • Trainer Ratios:Max 12 learners per trainer for practical sessions
  • On-site First Aider:Always present during physical training (preferably FAW certified)
