Get Your First Security Job Online

Get Your First Security Job in the UK

For newly SIA-licensed officers, CV, vetting, walk-ins and interviews.

Course Overview

You paid £204 for the licence. You passed the course. But now you are three weeks and fifty applications in, and nobody has called back. Get Your First Security Job exists for exactly that moment.

That silence is not because the industry has closed to newcomers. It is because you are applying the way the industry does not hire.

Security recruitment runs on speed, availability and a manager who needs a shift covered on Thursday. So the CV sitting in an inbox loses to the officer who walks in on Tuesday morning and says they can start tomorrow. Nobody tells you that, and it costs new officers weeks.

How to Get Your First Security Job

There are four things standing between a new SIA licence and a first shift, and this course handles all four in under four hours.

What You Get

Five CV templates, one per sector. A door CV and a corporate reception CV are different documents, and sending the wrong one is exactly why strong candidates get filtered out in the first ten seconds. So you get editable templates for retail, events, nightclubs, residential concierge and corporate. Pair them with our free CV Builder for Security Officers and you can have a finished CV the same evening.

The walk-in playbook. Turning up in person still beats every job board for a first role, but only if you do it properly. Therefore this module gives you the script, the timing, and the follow-up sequence — including which day of the week works and which one wastes your trip.

Vetting you can actually pass. BS 7858 screening covers five years of employment and address history. Gaps are common, and they rarely disqualify anyone. However, unexplained gaps stall the check for weeks. So this module shows you how to document yours properly in advance.

Interview answers that land. First you structure the answer with STAR: situation, task, action, result. Then you name the operational model the scenario calls for. When an interviewer asks about spotting a shoplifter and you walk them through ASCONE unprompted, you stop sounding like someone who just passed a course — and if that side of the work interests you, our Store Detective Training goes considerably deeper.

What the hiring manager sees. Managers filter fast, so this module shows you what they look at first, why flexibility on shifts outweighs experience for a first role, and which small mistakes lose offers that candidates had already won.

Who It’s For

• Newly licensed officers who have the badge but no callbacks yet
• Learners still studying on an SIA Security Guard or Door Supervisor course who want to apply the week their licence arrives
• Career changers moving into security from retail, hospitality or the forces
• Anyone weeks into applying who suspects the CV is the problem

What This Course Is

This is career and employability training, and London Security College certifies it. However, it is not an SIA licence-linked qualification, so it does not change your licence status. What it does is shorten the gap between licensed and working.
