What Is SIA Top Up Training in Manchester?

SIA Top Up Training, now delivered as the SIA refresher qualification, is the mandatory upskilling step you must complete before renewing your front-line licence. Since 1 April 2025, every Door Supervisor and Security Guard has to hold an up-to-date refresher qualification to renew. The training keeps your knowledge current on searching, safeguarding, counter-terrorism awareness, and physical intervention, bringing licence holders in line with the standards introduced in April 2021. Who Needs SIA Top Up Training in Manchester?

This course is for you if:

• You’re renewing a Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence on or after 1 April 2025.
• You qualified before April 2021 and still need to complete your top-up or refresher (this was required before 31 March 2025).
• You’re changing licence type, for example, moving from Security Guard to Door Supervisor.

Booking early protects your right to work and avoids any break between your old and renewed licence.

Do I Also Need an Emergency First Aid Certificate?

Yes — a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate is required before you can renew, and it’s already included in this Manchester course, so there’s nothing extra to arrange. If you already hold a valid EFAW certificate with at least 12 months before expiry, email a copy to info@londonsecuritycollege.co.uk, and we’ll confirm your place. What Does the Manchester Course Cover?

One Manchester course, two pathways, choose the route that matches your licence.

Door Supervisor Refresher — 2 Days (9:00 AM – 6:30 PM)

Unit 1 — Working as a Door Supervisor (Refresher)

• Carrying out effective and lawful search procedures
• Keeping vulnerable people safe
• Recognising terror threats and the security operative’s role
• Preventing drink and drug spiking in licensed venues

Assessment: multiple-choice exam (35 questions, 55 minutes) and a practical search assessment.

Unit 2 — Physical Intervention Skills (Refresher)

• Understanding the risks and implications of physical intervention
• Reducing the risks involved during an intervention
• Performing safe, non-pain-compliant standing, holding, and escorting techniques

Assessment: multiple-choice exam (30 questions, 45 minutes), a practical intervention assessment, and an oral Q&A.

Security Guard Refresher — 1 Day

Unit 1 — Working as a Security Officer (Refresher)

• Conducting effective search procedures
• Keeping vulnerable individuals safe
• Understanding terrorism threats and the officer’s role in an emergency

Assessment: multiple-choice test (28 questions, 45 minutes) and a practical search demonstration.

How Much Does SIA Top-Up Training in Manchester Cost?

Emergency First Aid is included in both. Secure your place with a £30 deposit and pay the balance at the Manchester centre.

What Documents Do I Need to Bring?

On your first day, please bring:

• Photo ID, passport, or driving licence
• Two proofs of address, such as a council tax bill, utility bill, official government letter or bank statement (two recent bank statements from different banks are accepted, dated within the last 3 months)
• Two passport-sized photos

When Will I Receive My Results?

Exam results are published online within 10–14 working days of your assessment date, and you’ll be notified by SMS and email as soon as they’re ready. If results are ever delayed, we’ll keep you informed throughout.
