Corporate Security Officer, office and commercial building security, where the pace is slower, the expectations around presentation are higher, and the client is watching how you speak to their staff.

Warehouse & Distribution Centre Security, a different problem entirely. High-value stock moving in bulk, vehicle access, goods-in and goods-out discipline, and internal theft rather than customer theft.

Retail security has faced serious and justified criticism over the disproportionate targeting of minority shoppers. It is the biggest reputational risk in the sector, and it is what a retail loss prevention manager worries about most.

So EDI Awareness sits deliberately alongside the loss prevention courses. Under the Equality Act 2010, treating someone differently because of a protected characteristic is unlawful, and an officer who selects people by appearance rather than behaviour creates liability for themselves and their employer.
