Best Practices for Accurate Reporting

Write Immediately

Capture details as soon as the incident happens to ensure accuracy.

    • Example : If you’re documenting a theft, include the time, the suspect’s appearance, and any CCTV evidence before memory fades.

Be Objective

Stick to the facts—avoid opinions or assumptions.

    • Example : Instead of “The person looked suspicious,” write “The individual was observed pacing near the exit and looking at the CCTV cameras repeatedly.”

Follow the Five Ws

Always include Who, What, When, Where, and Why in your report.
